Beginning Sunday, June 4th, our Coffee Bar will begin its journey to Epic Coffee-dom, beginning with an offering of Nitro Cold Brew for sale, as well as new and improved free coffee. All specialty coffee sales benefit The Lovely Project, a non-profit organization founded by Northwest Women Leadership that empowers girls by providing them with tools, education, and peer-mentorship for living a purposeful, productive life.
What is Nitro Cold Brew?
Nitro Cold Brew is like the Guinness of coffee. We take that cold brew coffee and pressurizing it with Nitrogen in Keg. The nitrogen interacts with the coffee in such a way that it sweetens it and carbonates it so that it is softer on the palate. The best part? It comes from the tap looking like a Guinness.
The Coffee Bar will open a half hour before each service: 9 am (9:30 am service) for the first service, 10:30 am (11 am service) for the second.
What is Cold Brew?
Cold Brew Coffee is the Old World way of making coffee. The process of making it involves allowing coffee to steep over a long period of time (typically a day). Traditionally, the coffee is left at room temperature but my process has been modified to eliminate the risk of bacteria growing. Because the coffee is in contact with the water for a longer period of time, it pulls more of the subtle notes of the bean as well as more of the basic properties from it. When you brew coffee in hot water, the first flavors to be extracted from bean are acidic in nature. Part of the reason that Cold Brew coffee is such a fad in coffee right now is that it is less acidic than iced coffee, therefore easier on your GI tract, and it has a well-rounded flavor.
